Distressed Photo Effect

Here’s a quick way of giving a photo a distressed effect. If you want to make your model look as if it is decomposing or simply give it an eerie feel – here’s how! Here are the two images that I will be using for this tutorial.
1.Open your image, right click on the layer in the layers tab and click “duplicate layer”. Click on the newly duplicated layer and desaturate it. Set this layer to “soft light”. Next paste the texture and put it between the original image and the duplicated layer.
2. Click on the texture layer and set it to “color burn”. You can always choose another blending mode such as, “multiply”, “color burn”, “overlay” and “soft light”. Choose the one that suits the image best.
3. If you now look at your image you may want to erase the parts that you don’t want, leaving texture only on the face or the area you want to texture.
Next, is to create a dead look. Create a hue/saturation layer above all your layers and play with the settings (e.g: hue: +170 and saturation: +29 then set the blend mode to “soft light”).
That’s it…experiment with you image and have fun! I have included a pic where I have added two texture layers.
