Art Using The Ephemera Brush

9 June 2007 ~ 465 Views

After uploading my new brush set to Deviantart I thought that I would have a go at using them! I will do this in the future for every new brush set that I make. This will show you how they can be used.

For this artwork I used a portrait taken from anencefali-stock, two textures, one of clouds and the other of cracks. These were placed over the girl with the blending modes set to overlay. I then used my brushes to create the effects you can see on the artwork, creating a new layer for each brush used. I find this to be the easiest way as sometimes you might want to go back and either delete a mark or move it.

I am quite happy with my new brush set and with 45 brushes I am sure that you can find a few that you may like. Perhaps I could have thinned them down a little but by having brushes of differing sizes and resolutions I think that a brush collection can then be more diverse, enabling you to create a total piece of work.

Have a go with them and please tell me what you thought of my set. Did having more brushes fuel your creativity? Or did you get lost in too much variety? I’d love to know as it is the only way we can learn.
