In Solidarity with Ric O’Barry

On October 16th we joined Ric O’Barry outside the Japanese Embassy in London to protest against the slaughter and capture of dolphins for the captivity trade in Taiji, Japan. We held roses to represent the blood of the thousands of lost dolphins and the love of the people who fight to defend them....

We Remember Barry Horne

Peter Hughes of the University of Sunderland cites Horne’s campaign as an example of how promoting an animal rights perspective created a paradigm shift in the UK toward seeing dolphins as “individual actors” who should be viewed in the wild if tourists want to interact with them. As a result, Hughes writes, there are now no captive dolphins in the UK....


Week Three in Taiji

A pod of approximately 75-80 dolphins bottlenose dolphins that – moments earlier – was swimming free in the open ocean, has been captured in Taiji, Japan. The dolphins were quickly spotted, and soon after, pushed and netted into the cove.
